COVID-19: What Paediatric HIV Programmes Need to Know

On 20 April 2020, UNICEF's Children and AIDS Learning Collaborative held the first in a new series of webinars on COVID-19, children, pregnant women and HIV.

The webinar covered:

  • Basic science related to the SARS-CoV-2 virus and HIV
  • Emerging research on children and pregnant women in the context of COVID-19
  • Impacts and programmatic implications of the pandemic on pregnant women, infants, children and adolescents living with or at risk of HIV
  • Voices from health care providers at the frontline of the pandemic.

Speakers included: Dr. Lynne Mofenson, Sr. Research Advisor at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF); Laurie Gulaid, Regional HIV Adviser at UNICEF Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa, and Dr. Patrick Oyaro, CEO of Health Innovations Kenya and board member of the Paediatric Adolescent Treatment Africa (PATA) network.
